A guided walk can help place these landmarks in the history of Amsterdam’s Jewish community and the impact of Nazi persecution during the Second World War
Learn About Anne Frank and the Secret Annex
At Prinsengracht 263, Anne Frank, her family, the Van Pels family, and Fritz Pfeffer hid from Nazi persecution. The Frank family went into hiding on 6 July 1942. The original entrance to the Secret Annex was concealed behind a movable bookcase, and the hiding place remained undiscovered for more than two years. Anne Frank House Anne Frank House Knowledge Base
The historic front house dates from 1635, while the rear annex was built in 1739. Inside the museum, Anne’s picture-covered bedroom wall and the original bookcase are preserved. The rooms are small, the stairs are steep, and photography is not allowed. Anne Frank House Knowledge Base Anne Frank House Anne Frank House accessibility
Plan Your Anne Frank House Visit Separately
A city walking tour may discuss Anne Frank’s story or stop near the house, but it does not automatically include museum admission. The Anne Frank House requires an online ticket for a specific time slot and does not provide guided tours inside the museum. As of 10 October 2026, tickets are released every Tuesday at 10.00 CEST for visits six weeks later.
Compare Anne Frank and Jewish Heritage Tours
Tour options vary in route, duration, guide language, and whether they visit the Jewish Cultural Quarter, the exterior of the Anne Frank House, or other historic sites. A walking tour of around 1–3 hours may cover selected locations, but museum entry, travel between neighbourhoods, and hotel transportation depend on the package.
Compare the itinerary and ticket arrangements so you can plan a thoughtful visit without assuming the museum is included.
