Discover the City Walls and Minčeta Tower
Dubrovnik’s stone walls were built and strengthened over several centuries, with much of their present form dating from the 13th to 17th centuries. At points, the walls rise to about 25 metres above ground. Minčeta Tower, one of the Old Town’s most recognizable fortifications, marks a high point on the wall circuit and offers broad views across terracotta rooftops and the Adriatic.
The Italian Renaissance architect Michelozzo di Bartolomeo worked with local architect and sculptor Juraj Dalmatinac on Minčeta Tower. His role is an example of outside and local expertise working together, rather than authorship of the entire city plan.
