Getting Around

Dubrovnik does not have a metro, tram, or railway system, so walking is the best way to explore the historic Old Town. Within the city walls, most streets are pedestrian-only, allowing visitors to reach landmarks such as the Rector’s Palace, Stradun, and Dubrovnik Cathedral on foot. However, the wider Dubrovnik area is spread along the coast, so buses are useful for reaching neighborhoods such as Lapad, Babin Kuk, Gruž, and Mokošica. Pile Gate is an important bus stop near the Old Town, but it is not the origin or destination of every route. Libertas Dubrovnik City Timetable

Libertas operates the local bus network, with routes and frequencies varying according to the destination, season, and time of day. Routes 1A and 1B connect Pile with Mokošica, while other services link the Old Town with areas such as Gruž, Lapad, and Babin Kuk. Travelers can buy tickets from selected sales points, kiosks, and other authorized locations, while some tickets may also be available through the operator’s channels. Because schedules can change, it is better to check the latest timetable or real-time arrival information instead of assuming that every bus arrives at 20-minute intervals. The Dubrovnik Pass is available in one-, three-, and seven-day versions and includes public transport together with access to selected attractions and museums, although the exact benefits should be checked before purchase. Dubrovnik Pass

From the Old City Port, visitors can take the official boat to Lokrum Island in approximately 15 minutes. The official Lokrum ticket includes the return boat transfer and entry to the Lokrum Nature Reserve, with services operating according to the seasonal timetable. The Dubrovnik Cable Car provides a spectacular ride to Mount Srđ, but it is a sightseeing attraction rather than part of the city bus network, and it requires a separate ticket. Taxis, private transfers, and rental cars are useful for journeys beyond the Old Town, although parking and narrow coastal roads can make a car less convenient inside the city.
